So we urge you here at Eye Care Center to wear your protective goggles or glasses whenever you are involved in high risk jobs that involve hammering, working on high speed sawing machines..etc Your eyes are our concern so please proctect them!
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are a form of protective eye wear designed primarily to prevent bright sun light and high energie visivle light from damaging or discomforting the eyes. They can sometimes also function as a visual aid, as variously termed spectacles or glasses exist which feature lenses that are colored, polarized or darkened. Many people find direct sunlight too bright for comfort. During outdoor activities, the human eye can receive more light than usual. Healthcare professionals recommend eye protection whenever outside to protect the eyes from ultraviolet radiation and blue light, which can cause several serious eye problems. In order to protect your eyes use sunglasses with filter. This is so much more important when the sun is shining on white snow or from a clear sky out on the lake.
Kids Eye Exam
All kids should be checked right around kindergarden unless the parents suspect an eye disease. There is nothing called " normal" eye deviation or strabismus in children. Any suspicion of an eye deviation should be checked at once! Also if you believe your kids are not seeing as well then an eye exam will spare you the agony of a lazy eye! According to the American Academy Of Pediatric Ophthalmology, an ophthalmologist can detect the need for glasses through a complete eye exam. Typically, the pupils are dilated in order to relax the focusing muscles, so that an accurate measurement can be obtained. By using a special instrument, called a retinoscope, your eye doctor can arrive at an accurate prescription. The ophthalmologist will then advise parents whether there is a need for glasses, or whether the condition can be monitored.
